Channels stoop down to any extent to shoot up TRP ratings

Looks like journalism has lost all its ethics and moral values these days. Especially, the electronic media is not hesitating to stoop down to any level to shoot up their TRP ratings.

On Wednesday evening, two private channels telecast a ‘sensational’ report on some hostel students in Warangal district watching a blue film on the Independence Day. The report went on to explain how the students hired a TV and a VCD player to watch the blue film, despite objections by the hostel warden and villagers. The channels claimed that the villagers had given them a tip off so as to catch them red-handed.

On Thursday, the truth came out. The government which ordered an inquiry came to know that the channel reporters fabricated the entire story, since the hostel authorities did not pay them bribes. According to the inquiry, the reporters themselves supplied TV and VCD to students, promising them to show Arundhati film, but inserted a blue film clipping in it. The Warangal Collector filed a criminal case against the reporters.
