The DGCA report over the September 2 helicopter crash in Nallamala forests leading to the death of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has turned out to be an excellent subject for politicians to make all sorts of demands.
The Central Bureau of Investigation is already probing into the other aspects of the helicopter crash including why the state government could not get the technical problems of the chopper inspected before flying and why they did not warn about inclement weather conditions.
But Congress MLC Jupudi Prabhakar Rao, a staunch loyalist of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, demanded that the decoded version of cockpit voice recorder be thrown open to the public. “Let the voice of YSR in those final dying moments be heard by the people by telecasting the same through television channels,” he said.
Perhaps, he thought the CVR would have recorded the voices of YSR. But it records only the voices of pilot and co-pilot and that would be in an encrypted form. It was decoded to get the transcript of the conversation. Moreover, the officials are saying the CVR was damaged in the crash. Yet, our leaders are trying to gain political mileage out of the crash.
